The Whyte Rooms
Hypnotherapy is a gentle and deeply relaxing therapeutic technique that uses the power of suggestion to help individuals make positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
It works by guiding you into a state of deep relaxation—often referred to as a “trance” state—where the conscious mind takes a backseat, and the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions and healing. It’s important to note that during hypnosis, you are never "out of control" or asleep. You remain fully aware and in control throughout the process.
As a hypnotherapist, I work with both parents and children to address emotional struggles, alleviate stress, and empower them with new ways of thinking and responding. Whether it's calming anxious thoughts, overcoming behavioural challenges, or helping children navigate big emotions, hypnotherapy can be an incredibly effective tool for emotional healing and growth.
Myth #1
"Hypnotherapy is mind control."
Fact: This is one of the most common misconceptions. Hypnotherapy is not mind control. You are always in control and fully aware of what is happening. I simply guide you into a relaxed state where you can be open to positive suggestions.
Myth #2
"You have to be in a deep trance for hypnotherapy to work."
Fact: Hypnosis doesn't require a deep trance. In fact, most people experience a light, calm state of relaxation where they are still fully aware of their surroundings and can easily interact. It's similar to the feeling of being deeply absorbed in a book or movie.
Myth #3
"Hypnotherapy is only for severe issues."
Fact: While hypnotherapy can certainly help with serious issues, it’s also effective for everyday struggles such
as stress, sleep problems, or building confidence. It’s about improving your overall well-being, not
just addressing crises.
Myth #4
"Children are too young for hypnotherapy."
Fact: Children are incredibly receptive to hypnotherapy, and the techniques can be adapted to suit their age
and needs. It’s a great way to help kids build resilience, manage emotions, and improve behaviour in a
gentle, effective way.
Myth #5
"Hypnotherapy takes a long time to work."
Fact: Hypnotherapy can often produce results quickly, and many people experience significant improvements after just a few sessions. It’s not a long, drawn-out process.
For Parents:
Stress Relief and Emotional Support: Parenting can be overwhelming, and we all need support managing stress. Hypnotherapy helps you release negative patterns of thought, reduce anxiety, and find balance in your busy life.
Improved Sleep: Many parents struggle with sleepless nights due to stress, worry, or simply being overwhelmed. Hypnotherapy can promote deep relaxation and improve sleep quality.
Building Confidence: Hypnotherapy can help you trust your parenting instincts, reduce self-doubt, and embrace a more confident, calm approach to parenting.
For Children:
Managing Anxiety: Hypnotherapy helps children identify and address their fears and anxieties, whether it's separation anxiety, school stress, or general worries. It provides a safe, non-threatening way for them to express and process their emotions.
Improved Behaviour and Emotional Regulation: Hypnotherapy can support children in learning how to manage their emotions, reduce tantrums, and improve focus and behaviour at school or at home.
Building Positive Habits: Hypnotherapy can help children develop positive habits, such as confidence-building, focusing on their strengths, and overcoming negative self-talk.
Hypnotherapy is not just a standalone treatment, it works beautifully alongside 1:1 integrative therapy. While integrative therapy combines different approaches to healing, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), person centred, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and emotional healing, hypnotherapy deepens the process by directly addressing the subconscious mind. By doing so, it helps you access and release emotional blockages, clear limiting beliefs, and reinforce the positive changes that you’re working on in other therapeutic practices.
One of the best things about hypnotherapy is that it works wonderfully online, just as it would in person. Whether you're in the comfort of your own home or somewhere else, the effectiveness of hypnotherapy remains unchanged. Online sessions offer the flexibility and convenience to fit into your busy life, and I’ve found that many people actually feel more comfortable and relaxed in their own familiar space. Distance doesn’t affect the power of hypnotherapy, so you can experience the same deep relaxation and transformative healing as if we were sitting together in a room.
